Join us for an evening of networking and explore language models like ChatGPT at our AI Happy Hour event! This in-person event will take place on Monday 28 October at 17:30 in the FARI Test and Experience Center (Cantersteen 16, 1000 Brussels).
For this session, Ann Dooms – who leads the Mathematics & Data Science research group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel – will explore the inner workings of language models like ChatGPT, how they generate coherent responses, why “hallucinations” occur, and how to set appropriate expectations for their performance.
Description of the session:
ChatGPT is a language model that has learned to find patterns in large parts of texts through very heavy calculations. As such, it can formulate relevant and coherent answers to a user’s questions. Yet we have all seen examples where the system talks nonsense, often described as ‘hallucinations’. This is however not a bug in the system, but a matter of setting the expectations right. In order to do so,let me guide you through the fascinating inner workings of neural networks and language models.
Is this for you? Administrators, industry professionals and AI enthusiasts are invited to join this session.
A balanced mix of learning and relaxation – Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions with Ann, followed by a casual happy hour with snacks and beverages!
This event is free to attend, but registration is compulsory.
The AI Happy Hours are workshop sessions that will be held every last Monday of the month, starting at 17:30 pm and finishing at 19:00 pm. These sessions will provide an appetizer of what Al, data and robotics has to offer, how it can benefit citizens, administrators & companies in day-to-day life and how to safeguard sustainability, compliance and responsible use of these technologies.
This event is organized by FARI – AI for the Common Good Institute.
