AI Happy Hour | AI, robotics and human movement science

Offline

Join us for an evening of networking and delve into the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and human movement science at our AI Happy Hour event! This in-person event will take place on Monday 24 February at 17:30 in the FARI Test and Experience Center (Cantersteen 16, 1000 Brussels).

Kevin De Pauw is a human movement scientist of the Brussels Human Robotics Research Center and coordinates several (inter)national projects in the field of occupational exoskeletons, prosthetics, mental and physical fatigue, and other human movement scientific projects. Kevin has a track record of 81 research papers and 5 conference papers.

Description of the session:
Our research program aims to enhance the quality of life for all individuals, both healthy and patient, by advancing human-centered robotics technologies. Central to our efforts are the development of occupational exoskeletons and motorized lower-limb prostheses, where adaptive control systems are powered by cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, including deep learning and reinforcement learning. We also leverage AI to bridge the gap between the brain and robotics through brain-computer interface technologies, applying machine learning to decode neural activity for controlling a robotics arm or cobot. Beyond robotics, AI extends to predictive models for human performance, such as marathon running, and innovative solutions for monitoring and mitigating physical and mental fatigue. By integrating robotics, sports science and AI, we push the boundaries of wearable technologies, including sensorized garments that capture muscle activity and biomechanical data to optimize athletic performance and support personalized rehabilitation strategies.

Is this for you? Administrators, industry professionals and AI enthusiasts are invited to join this session.

A balanced mix of learning and relaxation – Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions with Kevin, followed by a casual happy hour with snacks and beverages!

This event is free to attend, but registration is compulsory.

About the AI Happy Hours

The AI Happy Hours are workshop sessions that will be held every last Monday of the month, starting at 17:30 pm and finishing at 19:00 pm. These sessions will provide an appetizer of what Al, data and robotics has to offer, how it can benefit citizens, administrators & companies in day-to-day life and how to safeguard sustainability, compliance and responsible use of these technologies.

This event is organized by FARI – AI for the Common Good Institute.
