Brussels, Belgium, May 31, 2023 – European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) coordinators and representatives gathered in a meetup hosted by the Confederation of Laboratories for Artificial Intelligence Research in Europe (CLAIRE) and sustAIn.brussels at the heart of Brussels in BeCentral. Intending to position Europe as the global leader in human-centered Artificial Intelligence (AI), CLAIRE gathered various EDIHs focusing on AI to identify opportunities where the network can come in.
During the meetup, 20 EDIHs showcased their services and needs to identify how the network can add more value to their service for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), startups within their network. As collaboration and knowledge sharing plays a vital role in achieving positive impact, the meetup has emerged as a crucial platform for like-minded organizations to come together, exchange ideas, and collectively explore the potential of AI for societal benefits
One of the goals of this sustAIn.brussels hosted-meetup is to lay the groundwork for the annual CLAIRE EDIH Networking event later this year. As such, CLAIRE Brussels chair Hans de Canck proposed a matchmaking methodology to the EDIHs. The meetup was used to gather feedback from EDIHs and get their input on what should be included in the matchmaking, ultimately building the event as a co-creation between all stakeholders.
This meetup is one of the steps taken by the CLAIRE Innovation Network to address challenges in the European AI scene that has evolved and continuously evolving decentrally. Through this activity, EDIHs can leverage the collective expertise and experiences of the diverse participants to find innovative solutions and overcome obstacles together. As the AI landscape continues to evolve, these meetups will increasingly play an important role in shaping AI’s future, paving the way for a more responsible, trustworthy, and human-centric AI.
